Hunter Tyson finds right fit at Clemson

Clemson was the first high-major program to extend a scholarship offer to 2018 Monroe (NC) Piedmont forward Hunter Tyson last year after #BOTS. A year afterwards, that early offer and developed relationship paid off for the Tigers, as Tyson made his pledge to the program Monday evening.

"Clemson was a school and coaching staff that believed in me from the beginning," Tyson told HoopSeen.com. "I felt really comfortable there. It felt like home and I like the culture they have at Clemson."

Tyson, a versatile, skilled combo forward, was a standout for PSB Select last year, where he emerged on several programs' radars with his shooting and range. He quickly progressed throughout the summer, as he eventually began to show the ability to make plays off the bounce, too. That's what caught the eye of Brad Brownell's staff.

Clemson has the potential to be a successful landing spot for Tyson. He sees several similarities that fit him extremely well at the next level.

"My high school team runs some of the two-guard sets that they run. The coaches think I could be a great player in their system at Clemson."

Tyson played with Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL circuit this past travel season. He averaged eight points and five rebounds per game.

Tyson, a 6-foot-7 forward, also considered Davidson, Michigan, South Carolina, and NC State.

He joins fellow travel teammate John Newman in Clemson's 2018 recruiting class.
