NBPA Top 100 spotlight: Josh Leblanc

Josh Leblanc isn’t a look at me type of player. Just watch him play for five minutes or talk to him for two, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native lets his play do all of the talking.

In a setting like the NBPA Top 100 camp, sometimes standing out by doing the little things is hard to do. But Leblanc has shined in that role and the pundits have taken notice. The 6-foot-6 forward said he’s taking great lessons home with him after his time here in Charlottesville.

“To me, this is a high value (situation). This is a great opportunity and a great experience to learn new things and get better at things that I’m not so good at with my game,” Leblanc said.

What he is good at is playing the role of an ultimate high-level glue guy. And that’s a great thing to be.

“I’m just a hard-working, scrappy player. I like to play hard and defend and crash the boards. I like to do the dirty work more,” he said.

So when he lists the schools that have offered him a scholarship, it shouldn’t come as a big surprise. The programs that are in tow are programs that value players like Leblanc.

He said he has offers fromTexas A&M, Minnesota, Cincinnati, UAB, Florida Gulf Coast, LSU, Northwest State and Georgetown.

Leblanc said he has yet to take any visits but “I plan on visiting Texas A&M. I like the coaching staff.”

He added the new staff at LSU has already been in contact and he likes what he has seen and heard from the hometown school. But Leblanc made it clear, staying close to home isn’t a big of a priority as it has been for other Baton Rouge players in the past.

So, what is he looking for?

“Just the situation I’m in as far as playing and just the environment,” Leblanc said. “Are they family oriented?”
