NBPA Top 100 camp spotlight: Kofi Cockburn
Kofi Cockburn is a name that is climbing up the Google search trends this summer. The 6-foot-11 manchild from New York via Jamaica has been one of the trending big men on the camp circuit this month.
Two years ago, Cockburn was getting acclimated to American basketball and living in the settings of New York City. Prior to that, he was a giant soccer player in the land of sun and the shade of palm trees.
Now he’s terrorizing opponents in the paint with his 6-foot-11, 250-pound frame. The class of 2019 center is just getting started.
He was one of the most impressive big men at the NBPA Top 100 camp. But he’ll tell you he’s still at the beginning stages of his development. With improved overall skill work, Cockburn could be one of the true elite post players coming out of the 2019 class nationally.
His recruitment is proving his worth as a long term player. Auburn, Duke, Kansas and South Carolina have all reached out over the last five days.
Cincinnati, Creighton, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Indiana, LSU, Miami, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rhode Island, Rutgers, St. John’s, St. Louis, Seton Hall, Syracuse, TCU and UNLV are also in line to recruit the big man. And that list isn’t shrinking any time soon either.
