#Gibbons Spotlight: David Johnson
The Louisville Magic have consistently produced on the floor at Suwanee Sports Academy over the past few travel seasons. Nothing was different this weekend at #Gibbons, as 2019 Louisville (KY) Trinity guard David Johnson distanced himself as one of the top prospects in the event.
Standing at 6-foot-4, Johnson has the ability to play both guard positions. He mainly plays the point for his high school squad, but with the addition of KyKy Tandy for the weekend, Johnson was able to play off the ball for extended periods of time.
Johnson has proven he is a capable shooter from the perimeter, excelling at his mid-range pull-up jumpers in transition. He showed that and more as the he had a solid weekend for the Magic before going down with an injury Saturday evening.
While it is still early in the recruiting process, Johnson is already a hot prospect in the Midwest. Several programs are showing early interest.
"Louisville, Xavier, and Cincinnati have offered me," Johnson told HoopSeen.com. "Stanford, Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Butler, Western Kentucky, and Kansas are all showing interest."
With the April evaluation period behind us and July on the horizon, expect for many other high-major programs to throw their hat in the ring for the top-100 guard hailing from Kentucky.
