#ATLJAM Spotlight: Alex Jones
2018 Buford (GA) point guard Alex Jones excelled throughout the high school season, eventually helping Buford capture the AAAAA state championship in March, the school's first basketball state title. He was the catalyst for the Wolves, scoring 16 points and exuding his toughness throughout the game.
Nothing different is happening on the travel scene this spring. The 5-foot-9 guard was one of the most valuable players last weekend at the Atlanta Jam, as he earned all-tournament honors, and, more importantly, a handful of scholarship offers.
"Florida Gulf Coast, Stetson, Wofford, Lipscomb, Navy, South Alabama, New Mexico State, and Presbyterian have offered me," Jones told HoopSeen.com.
Jones was a hot topic amongst college coaches over the weekend. A variety of low and mid-major programs followed him closely and one head coach described him as a "special point guard that could change the face of a program's backcourt."
A handful of other programs are keeping close tabs on Jones. Rice, Creighton, William & Mary, Loyola (MD), Charlotte, UNC-Greensboro, Bucknell, Army, and Murray State are all showing high interest.
Over the past few months, Jones has been trending in an upward direction with his play. If the two April evaluation live periods are any indication, the difference-maker at point guard will be a priority prospect during July.
