NPS Player Spotlight: Cameron Holden
By Joe Chapman
Following a huge junior campaign in which he averaged 26 points per game at Mary Persons High School, many were interested to see how Cameron Holden would perform over the spring and summer circuits. Safe to say that he did not disappoint during the Norman Parker Showcase this past weekend.
While he played well all weekend for Team Georgia Magic, his breakout performance came on Saturday morning in which he exploded for 35 points in a 73-63 win over Active Elite Black. He averaged 21.5 points a game over the course of four games at the Norman Parker Showcase and was named to the All-Tournament team.
At 6-foot-5, Holden can attack the rim while also stepping out to knock down the occasional jumper. He says that the schools that have shown strong interest early are George Mason, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee Tech.
As he looks ahead to his senior year Holden said: “My only goal is to get Coach (Greg) Nix to his first Final Four. That’s the only goal for me right now. If I don’t, I won’t see my senior year as a success.”
With Holden leading a Mary Persons squad next year that only loses two seniors, don’t be surprised to see them dancing in the final four in March.
