Diallo commits to Kentucky, plans to enroll next week
2017 Putnam (CT) Science Academy shooting guard Hamidou Diallo announced his intentions to enroll at Kentucky on Saturday evening at a press conference.
Diallo, an athletic 6-foot-5 slasher, plans to begin school at Kentucky next week. While he has the intentions of enrolling early, the plan is for Diallo to redshirt the spring semester and practice with the team. He will officially suit up next fall.
An elite athlete, Diallo excels at getting to the basket and scoring at the rim. He is terrific in transition with his ability to create scoring opportunities for himself. His explosive athleticism and competitive nature set him apart from the other guards in the 2017 class. He ranks at the top shooting guard prospect and the No. 5 player overall.
Diallo chose the Wildcats over UConn, visiting both schools in the past week. Arizona and Syracuse were also involved.
With Diallo's commitment and plan to play during the 2017-18 season, Kentucky only bolsters their current No. 1 2017 recruiting class. Diallo joins Jarred Vanderbilt, Quade Green, P.J. Washington, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Nick Richards.
