Josh Green creates his profile
The John Wall Holiday Invitational has become one of the top holiday events of the high school season and this year’s event didn’t struggle to host some of the top talent from throughout the nation. While all eyes were on DeAndre Ayton to close out the night, it was his teammate at Hillcrest Prep, Josh Green, which created the biggest stir.
A 6-foot-4 guard that calls Sydney, Australia his home, Josh Green has the early makings of a five-star recruit out of the 2019 class and with even better upside to him. In the day and age where everyone loves jumbo sized guards that can attack the basket and have the athleticism to match, Green fits the mold perfectly.
Finishing with 18 points and leading his team to its first victory of the week in North Carolina, the sophomore guard spoke on his transition to the United States and mindset on the hardwood. “It has been a massive change coming from Australia but I like it out here with the transition game and all that. It has been great,” Green said. “We moved here two years ago with my whole family so it’s been a great transition coming out and playing against the best teams and the top kids.”
Attending Hillcrest Prep for the first year and now in the United States for two years, the impressive sophomore has all of the early signs of a giant break out prospect this spring and summer on the travel circuit. Thanks to his unbelievable pace and feel for the game, athleticism at the basket where he threw down two poster-worthy dunks on Wednesday evening, and playmaking abilities, it isn’t difficult to soon think of Green as a giant point guard recruit.
While there is still little known about Green, the schools that do see him, immediately give out an offer. His brother, Jay, is a committed senior to UNLV as the Rebels have already offered the 6-foot-4 sophomore. They have joined such others as Arizona, TCU, Cal, UT-Martin, San Francisco, and Prairie View A&M with early offers, the former being his latest.
No visits, outside of a quick trip to UNLV with his brother during his very own official visit of the campus, has been made as the recruiting process is just picking up but in due time, it would seem that Josh Green has all of the makings as one of the best at his position in all of America.
