Wake Forest celebrates for Chaundee Brown
The wait has been a dreaded one for Wake Forest fans as the revival of the ACC program hasn’t been the best of days for those in Winston-Salem. While there is still some time to go before the college basketball season begins, today might just be the best day of the Danny Manning era thus far as Wake has landed the commitment of top-25 guard Chaundee Brown.
A chiseled and super developed shooting guard that has rapidly developed his perimeter jumper and in the meantime, remained his consistent self on hard drive and scores to the basket, there weren’t many better breakout and consistent producers in the backcourt all summer long than the Orlando native.
While Kansas, Maryland, and Florida remained in hard pursuit of the 6-foot-4 guard, Brown made his commitment official on Sunday before heading home following his official visit to campus. The First Academy star has been one that Wake Forest fans have clamored for and with the commitment, the Deacon faithful should expect an immediate producer off of the perimeter and someone that absolutely loves to defend and compete, regardless of the level of competition that he is facing off against.
Running on the Nike EYBL circuit this past summer, Brown did a bit of everything. Whether it was his six rebounds, two assists, or close to 20 point per game averages, the Orlando native displayed just how much he could do on the playing floor. However, his scoring wasn’t a product of volume shooting as he converted on over a half of his field goal attempts and a very respectable 38-percent shooting from beyond the arc.
The second commitment in the 2017 class for Wake Forest, Brown is a tremendous addition to an improving program in Winston-Salem. The South Beach All-Stars product will join Melo Eggleston, a 6-foot-8, slender and versatile forward, in creating a solid twosome and one that should bring immediate production to Danny Manning’s bunch beginning next winter.
