Buskey opts for Charleston Southern

Coming into the spring, 2017 Daphne (AL) point guard Deontaye Buskey was a relatively unknown prospect outside of Baldwin County in south Alabama. Nevertheless, after a strong spring and summer with the PCBC Stars and CP25 Southeast Elite FBC, Buskey became a known commodity throughout the Southeast. Saturday evening, he gave his verbal pledge to Charleston Southern following an official visit.

"I just loved Charleston Southern on the visit. The team and coaching staff took my family in and made it like home," Buskey told HoopSeen.com following his commitment.

Buskey and his family were treated to an exciting weekend in Charleston, as they saw some of the city's main attractions and Charleston Southern's campus. Overall, the visit sold him on the Big South program.

"I love the campus and everybody around it. There's so much to do with something always happening. I went to a football game and the fan support they have is crazy."

A 6-foot-1 point guard, Buskey is an explosive athlete and scorer. Throughout the travel season, he proved to be a capable point guard that can set his teammates up for shots, as we as score for himself. Buskey has a quick first step and is a very accurate shooter with the mid-range jumper. Early playing time presents itself at Charleston Southern.

"I'm going to be a point guard and they have two senior guards leaving, so I'll have to work for playing time," he explained.

Buskey is Charleston Southern's first pledge for the 2017 recruiting cycle. He chose the Buccaneers over Stetson and Troy. He is ranked No. 15 in our 2017 Alabama state rankings.
