Darryl Morsell one step closer to a decision
After securing his spot within the top-60 of our 2017 HoopSeen Top-125 Rankings earlier in the month, Darryl Morsell has taken the next step towards finding the appropriate setting that he would like to play out his college ball. A giant playmaker in the backcourt with much improved ball skills and athleticism by the passing day, the Baltimore native caught us up with recruitment.
Now sitting at number-55 overall within the 2017 rankings, Morsell rightfully received the proper recognitions after having a breakout spring and summer with the Team Melo 17-under bunch. Running with point guard spot for his travel team, Morsell showed off immense upside, versatility, an extreme pace for the game, along with all of the intangibles that most programs look for in a recruit.
Narrowing down his final list of schools to a group of five, Dayton, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Villanova, and Maryland all made the cut. Today, August 28, Morsell will take an unofficial visit to Maryland. This is not just the end where he now has four of his five official visits lined up:
September 16: Notre Dame
September 23: Villanova
September 30: Maryland
October 21: Dayton
At the moment, his official trip to Virginia Tech is still in the works, though three in-home visits are set up at the time being:
September 10: Virginia Tech
September 12: Notre Dame
September 14: Villanova
While the process will be indulged thoroughly, Morsell has a good feel for what he is looking for in his future college program. “A place that feels like home, that I can get early playing time, and the relationship with the coaches has to be a good one and trusting one,” he told HoopSeen.
The top prospect from the state of Maryland from the 2017 class, wherever Morsell might choose, expect an immediate energy giver that can wear many hats for his squad all across the floor.
