Belmont stays hot, adds commitment from Bradshaw
The week started off on a high note for Belmont head coach Rick Byrd and his staff, as the Bruins received a commitment from 2017 point guard Grayson Murphy on Monday. The week seems to be ending on a similar note, as 2017 Russellville (KY) wing DeAndre "Pedro" Bradshaw also announced his commitment to Belmont Thursday afternoon at his school.
"I feel like Belmont is a great fit for me," Bradshaw told HoopSeen.com. "I really trust and believe in Coach Byrd and his staff when it comes to their plan for me."
Bradshaw, a long, wiry 6-foot-6 wing, is as skilled as they come on the perimeter. With his skill-set, high IQ, and ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter, the senior will fit right in with what Byrd likes to do at Belmont. Bradshaw's uniqueness is off the charts and his upside is right there, too. His best basketball is ahead of him Belmont has big plans for his future.
"The coaching staff's plan for me is to come in, contribute early, and help win games. They are going to help me continue to develop my body and game, and potentially play professional basketball."
Bradshaw suited up with Hoop Dreams during the travel season, where he reeled in a number of scholarships offers and interest on the adidas Gauntlet circuit. However, last year, he played with Nashville-based Team Corey Brewer and Grayson Murphy. Murphy's commitment played a role in Bradshaw's decision.
"I love playing with Grayson. He's the best point guard I've encountered, honestly. He's extremely crafty, high IQ, and he's a true winner and competitor. He makes it fun to be around and to play with," Bradshaw explained, commending his former and now future teammate.
Bradshaw drew attention from coast to coast regarding his commitment, but, in the end, the Bruins were able to beat out UNC-Wilmington, Long Beach State, and Eastern Kentucky for his services. Xavier had also expressed serious interest, but they had yet to offer.
Bradshaw and Murphy make quite the tandem on the perimeter going forward in Belmont's 2017 recruiting class. They are also very involved with Nashville (TN) Christian's 6-7 power forward Caleb Hollander -- he also played with Team Corey Brewer this travel season.
