One of the quickest rising prospects within the 2018 class, Coby White finalized his decisions for where he will attend college in two years on Thursday evening. The 6-foot-3 guard decided to keep his talents within the Tar Heel State by becoming a Tar Heel as he gave his verbal commitment to UNC.

Running with one of the most talented 16-under teams in all of America, the product of the Team CP3 crew ran the lead guard spot for most of the spring and summer and became better and better with it in his hands each time out. While he isn’t seen as a true facilitator of sorts just yet, the confidence and improving nature out of White makes one believe that he could become a point guard down the road.

Already with Rechon Black, a 6-foot-7 point-wing type committed to UNC, White is another guy that can play various spots for the Tar Heels. He is best used as a scoring asset where the quick bodied and athletic leaper at the basket can convert from all three levels on the playing floor. Very efficient with the basketball, White uses a quick first step and a major burst to get downhill with the basketball. However, when gaps are sealed off, the Greenfield School product can take what is given to him and convert on the mid-range jumper allotted.

Moving ahead, look for North Carolina to continue to pursue the top talent within its state and while the 2017 class isn’t all that great, the 2018 one is very promising. Such others as lead guard Devon Dotson and combo forward Jairus Hamilton already hold offers from the ACC blueblood. Furthermore, White’s travel teammate and top tier 2019 wing Wendell Moore is the primary target already for UNC within his own respective class.

No matter the way you look at it, White is a great, excellent haul to finish off the month of July for which should cause greater momentum for the coaching staff in Chapel Hill in picking up some of its top targets from the class of 2017.
