NBA Top 100 Spotlight: Nick Richards
Nick Richards finished the first day of the NBA Top 100 Camp as one the top rebounders at the event. That shouldn’t come as a big surprise for anyone that has followed the five-star center from New Jersey’s St. Patrick’s School.
The 6-foot-11 center lived up to his billing as a premiere paint recruit. His recruitment reflects such an accolade, too.
Richards told the media throng that he is considering Indiana, Syracuse, UConn, Arizona and Kentucky. While not in a rush or quick to get laser-focused on the schools recruiting him, Richards said he knows what he wants to find in his future home.
“The most important things are going to be the coach and the school that gets me ready for the next level. That’s it. That’s all I’m looking for.”
Richards said he will finish out the travel season in July and look at taking visits after the summer. He and his family will converge and decide which schools will be visited. To date, he’s only taken unofficial visits to UConn and Villanova.
“Whichever school feels right, that’s when I’ll make my commitment,” Richards said.
The feeling out process between prospect and program is in full force, he said.
“When the coaches come to visit me at the school, I talk to the coach and who can keep it real with me. I don’t want to be sold the best idea or the best product,” Richards said. “I want to see whatever coach keeps it real with me. That’s my favorite coach.”
