Is there a more entertaining ballplayer in all of America than Chris Lykes? Standing 5-foot-7 on a good day, the product out of the DMV might not pass the immediate looks test, however, the Team Takeover star was at it again during the last leg of the Nike EYBL season this past weekend in Suwanee, Georgia.

Helping secure second place of the 10 team division his squad was placed into, which should lead to an easier path to the Nike Peach Jam finals come July, Lykes is the stir to the drink that is the loaded and talented Team Takeover 17-under bunch. The star for Steve Turner at Gonzaga College Prep in Washington, D.C., the rising senior has taken his game to the next level this spring on the Nike circuit as he has posted to close to 20 points off of nearly 50-percent shooting from the lead guard spot, along with three assists and two steals per contest.

A fiery, competitive floor general that loves to push the pace of any given contest and has the explosive physique and toughness in scoring within the trees that sometimes stand over a foot taller than him, Lykes seems to get it done against any type of opponent. Due to his consistent production and mindset, along with his two-way production capabilities, many programs have finally overlooked Lykes’ height disadvantage and become more appreciative of the junior’s giant heart and will to win.

On the recruiting front, Lykes gave insight on where things stand. “I plan on committing before the beginning of my high school season,” the Gonzaga College point guard stated. “The coaching staff, style of play, and their vision for me as a player,” Lykes stated in regards to what he will be looking for in a selecting a college to attend.

Among those in pursuit, a few have stood out with the product of the Team Takeover program. “Villanova, Notre Dame, Miami, Georgetown, NC State, Virginia, and Stanford,” Lykes told HoopSeen about those in touch with him the most. “I am going on an official visit to Miami on June 3, and to Villanova on June 9.”

While Lykes will likely take three more official visits in the coming months before finalizing his college decision, things do look good for the Wildcats and Hurricanes moving ahead with the top-75 guard that will bring immediate energy, spunk, and production to wherever he calls fit.
