Jordan Shepherd remaining patient with the process
As we get set for the NCAA Championship this evening, it becomes more and more evident just how important it is in having a lead guard that can create for others, yet also score the basketball in an efficient manner. UNC and Villanova boast more than just one capable floor general and the value placed on such a ballplayer has become vital in recent years. As teams aspire to be in the same position that the two finalists are in this evening, programs are lurking for such a recruit late in the year, someone along the lines of Jordan Shepherd.

The 6-foot-3 guard out of Asheville Christian, Shepherd was a one-time James Madison commit who had previously committed to the old regime in Harrisonburg. After the coaching change, Shepherd opted out of his verbal and looks to be one of the better point guards left on the board within the 2016 class.
While Shepherd goes about his business without a ton of pub compared to some of his other peers within his region and class, the Carolina native is the true essence of a winner. He is willing to wear whatever hat that his coaching staff would like for him to as he can score the ball when needed on the perimeter jumper attempt, hard attacks to the basket, and also displays his vision and feel for the game in creating for others within the half-court setting.
Back in the fall, Shepherd took three of the five official visits allotted to a high school prospect, visiting Boston University, James Madison, and Wofford. Now back on the market, various programs throughout the east coast have become involved with the steady play maker as he currently holds offer from Duquesne, Tennessee Tech, and Appalachian State.
As the late signing period begins in two weeks, Shepherd has remained patient with the process for the second time and has a firm understanding of what he is looking for in a college. “I want a family atmosphere, a place that I can make an impact at as a freshman, and good academics,” he told HoopSeen.
College programs continue to flock in to the gym at Asheville Christian and as more and more coaching changes occur, look for the offers to ramp up for the steady, mature, and productive guard out of North Carolina this spring.
