Elite Preview Profile: Horace Wyatt Jr.
Horace Wyatt Jr. walked into the gym on Saturday and immediately your eyes were drawn towards the slender but bouncy sophomore wing. While he is far from being a finished ballplayer, The Elite Preview was the perfect stage for the Peach State native to burst out onto the scene as a high-upside, versatile prospect that will lure college coaches into the gym at Benjamin E. Mays High School.
Displaying great size and length at 6-foot-6, Wyatt Jr. has the ideal height for either wing spot. While he can struggle against higher levels of physicality near the basket, the product of the Georgia Stars travel program does not back down from contact and is very much a threat on the offensive glass.
Sporting a great motor and pogo stick for feet, Wyatt Jr. is capable of defending various spots on the floor while also using his quick first step on the attack to the basket. He showcases a good looking and elevated jumper from off the bounce and the toughness and play making skills out of the intriguing sophomore is clearly evident.
The bloodlines are already in place for Wyatt Jr. as his father once suited up at Clemson on the hardwood and his sister, Harlyn Wyatt, is currently a freshman on the Tulane women’s basketball squad.
While there is still little known about the Mays High product, one should presume that as Wyatt Jr. continues to fill out and further his ball skills as a versatile play maker, that his stock should hit the next level as a worthwhile recruit for some of the better programs down south.
