Elite Preview Profile: Garrison Brooks
The Elite Preview is always the perfect setting for the very best prospects from the Peach State to show just what makes them special. There were a bevy of Georgia natives that did just that but another that displayed a wealth of upside and value was an Alabama-born big man. Garrison Brooks, bringing a refined physique to the Suwanee Sports Academy this past Saturday, starred in a multitude of ways.

Brooks is one of the sturdiest, most consistent big men producers within the 2017 class. The product of the Auburn High basketball program, the junior center will run this summer along the likes of Ikey Obiagu, Chuma Okeke, andDavion Mitchell on the star-studded Georgia Stars 17-under program.
While he will never be described as an elite athlete, Brooks is a fine back to the rim scorer who seals well prior to the entry catch and can convert on counters moves in the post. He has begun to solidify his face-up jumper but where he really excels is in scooping up rebound after rebound and on either side of the glass. His defense is just the same as he never overplays and is a solid rim protector. He may not be a premier shot blocker but he does alter shots by playing sound defense and uses his strong physique in holding his ground well within the interior.
The son of George Brooks, an assistant on the Mississippi State men’s basketball staff, the junior big man updated things with his recruitment over the weekend. “Right now I would say I am hearing the most from Georgia, Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Mississippi State,” he told HoopSeen. Others such as UAB and Auburn remain heavily in the mix and while many believe that MSU is the clear front runner, it would seem that Brooks has remained wide open with the process.
Entering his senior summer and with the grades to boot, look for those throughout the southeast to highly prioritize the two-way producer and high-IQ big man that can be used at either spot in the frontcourt.
