Kendrick Gray set to become a wanted man

In keeping up with the current trajectory that the higher levels of basketball continue to embark on, it seems that the undersized but hard playing power forward has become much more valuable in recent years. Kendrick Gray, a 6-foot-7 forward with the Vermont Academy crew, fits the mold and while he can develop into a quality sized 3-man, he already brings a bevy of upside and value to the hardwood each time out.

While guys like Bruce Brown and Tyrique Jones, two top-100 recruits within the 2016 class, along with Christian David, a potential top-50 guy within the 2017 class, tend to get most of the pub regarding the prep squad, Gray shouldn’t go without receiving his own dues. An instant energy giver with limitless athleticism near the lane and at the basket as he boasts a 42-inch vertical, the upside is pretty impressive with the junior forward.

He can knock down shots from off the catch from deep, take his man off the bounce with his dominant hand, and is always willing to step up and fight for the 50-50 ball on the glass and whenever it is on the ground. Throw in his length and capabilities of becoming a valued 3-and-D type with the proper progressions and it looks like Gray could be in line for a recruitment that will heat up this summer.

While he was born in Sacramento, California and moved to the state of Vermont at a young age, the east coast programs are now educating themselves with the premiere athlete. “Right now my offers are from St. Bonaventure’s, Winthrop, and Vermont,” the junior stated.

Due to his versatility on the floor and higher ceiling because of his athleticism and developing ball skills, Gray is a mystery man of sorts at the time being, though with consistent play and production this summer, could become a priority for those within the New England region.
