Fastbreak Friday: Let the weekend visit season begin!

The opening weekend of college football and Labor Day are upon us. Both of those can only mean one thing: it’s officially visit season! Like usual, HoopSeen.com will have you up-to-date on visits of note on the recruiting front for college basketball.

Without further adieu, let’s dive right in…

Indiana is involved with some big fish in the 2025 recruiting cycle, so why not get one of the top targets on campus early? That’s exactly what the Hoosiers are doing with in-state wing Jalen Haralson. The 6-foot-7 wing man could be an important piece for Mike Woodson in what has the potential to be a very good recruiting class for Indiana.

Could Haralson be the first to pull the trigger? I doubt it happens this weekend, but they always say to keep an eye on those early fall visits. This weekend could ultimately set the tone for how the Hoosiers’ recruiting class shapes up.

CAMPUS OF THE WEEKEND: ALABAMA

Sure, Kalen DeBoer is the new gridiron sheriff in Tuscaloosa, but make no mistake about it — Nate Oats is the guy on campus right now. After making a run to last season’s Final Four, Oats and his staff have put together another impressive squad for this year that has many basketball pundits touting Alabama as a national championship contender. And like usual, Oats is preparing for a roster reload, and that starts this weekend with three prospects on campus for official visits.

Davion Hannah, Jaden Toombs, and Amari Allen will all be in town this weekend for the Crimson Tide. It seems like the perfect group, as all three players play significant roles that fit Oats’ upbeat style of play perfectly. Allen brings a solid skill-set and ability to shoot the basketball while Toombs is an ideal anchor 5 man. And then there’s Hannah, who’s one of the top guards in the country — I think Alabama has some recent success with guards, right?

Alabama will have to replace some important pieces next season. This weekend could go a long way in helping that process. Keep your eyes on Tuscaloosa.

GROUP OF FIVE VISITOR TO WATCH: SALIM LONDON, UAB

Let’s be honest here: Andy Kennedy was recruiting transfers before it was the thing in college basketball. Whether it was at Ole Miss or now at UAB, AK has always had a knack for identifying transfers that fit how he wants to play.

What does all that have to do with anything at hand? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Kennedy and the Blazers will play host to hometown guard Salim London this weekend. The talented guard has won back-to-back 7A state championships at Hoover (AL), and UAB has been hot on his trail since the June scholastic period.

To sum this one up, very rarely does Kennedy prioritize high school players. However, he’s made it evident that London is his guy for the past few months. That’s why this visit is a notable one for me. I’d look for UAB to try and wrap this one up sooner rather than later.

MID-MAJOR VISITOR TO WATCH: ZACH BLESHOY, UT-CHATTANOOGA

Marietta’s Pope High School guard Zach Bleshoy impressed plenty of college coaches this spring and summer with his shooting ability. He made three-pointer after three-pointer after three-pointer plenty of times during the travel season. So, I’d say it’s pretty notable that he’s visiting UT-Chattanooga, a place that… well, likes to shoot three-pointers!

Dan Earl and the Mocs will lose some important backcourt pieces to graduation following the season, so they’ll need to reload. I can’t think of a better fit for both parties involved. UT-Chattanooga will have to fight off plenty of competition, so they’ll give it their best shot this weekend.
