2025 guard Simon Walker discusses Auburn offer + updates recruitment

2025 Huntsville (AL) guard Simon Walker had a stock-boosting travel season playing up with the Pro One 17U bunch as he landed a couple of scholarship offers and racked up more interest over the course of the summer.

The 6-foot-5 sharpshooter proved himself as a high-level shot-maker and scorer at the highest level. His ability to make shots off the dribble and coming off screens intrigued fans and coaches alike. To no one’s surprise, Walker has a long list of suitors coming his way.

Walker continued that stock-boosting period over the weekend. Following a successful showing at Auburn’s elite camp, Walker came away with his first SEC scholarship offer.

“I met with coach [Steven] Pearl following camp. He said they have wanted to extend the offer for a while but wanted to wait until they saw me face-to-face to do it,” Walker told HoopSeen.com. “It feels great to receive an offer from Auburn. It’s such a great school with a great fan base.”

Walker is no stranger to Auburn. He’s made multiple trips to campus in the past few years as an unofficial visitor. A return trip to the Plains could come soon, too.

“Coach Pearl has had great success in the time he’s been there and I’m sure that’ll continue. I’m looking forward to learning even more about the program. We spoke about me coming back to campus soon for a visit to watch a football game and/or see practice.”

Auburn is the latest school to throw their name into the mix with a scholarship offer to Walker. St. John’s, Furman, Samford, George Mason, Tennessee Tech, Marshall, Lipscomb, Jacksonville State, and Alabama A&M have also extended offers to this point.

Walker caught the eye of St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino and assistant coach Steve Masiello during the UA Finals in July. The Johnnies ultimately reached out with a scholarship offer, and the junior is intrigued by the opportunity in the Big East.

“St. John’s has a great basketball tradition with a Hall of Fame coach in Rick Pitino. They also play in a competitive conference in the Big East and it’s a great program overall, so I’m definitely interested in them,” he explained.

With football season kicking off around the country, Walker is expected to be busy this fall with visits. It sounds like Auburn is just the beginning for his college campus tour.

“I don’t have any dates planned right now, but I’m planning on visiting Tennessee, Clemson, Ole Miss, and then Furman again this fall.”

Walker is the No. 4 overall prospect in Alabama’s deep and talented 2025 class.
