Three Tennessee 2021 prospects primed for big recruiting blow-ups
These three players from the state of Tennessee were on our short list of players who were poised for a big blow up this spring. As we move forward in the calendar year, we wanted to spotlight the guys who are prime prospects in the Volunteer State.
Houston High School had just qualified for their first trip to the state tournament when the announcement came down that everything sports was shutting down. Sadly the state would not get to see what the recruiting world had already gotten a brief look at, the emergence of Mason Miller. A 6'9 lefty with superb skills, able to score on every level, great length and just body strength away from being a devastating prospect in the Class of 2021.
Miller, the son of Memphis assistant coach Mike Miller, is a prodigy who like his father is known for his outside stroke and basketball IQ. Miller has garnered attention from the likes of Indiana, Creighton, Ohio State, Memphis and Florida.
This was going to be a breakout summer for this underrated athletic guard. Blessed with size and skill, Slatten was on the verge of busting out on the circuit before the pandemic shut us down. A solid perimeter player with a bouncy feel for his game, he explodes to the basket and has a great feel for the flow of the game. A coaches son, he has a feel for the tempo of the game, he excels off the bounce and will rise up and put one in your eye if you play off him, his handles have improved and his first step is scintillating.
He sports an offer from Tennessee Tech and was on the verge of compiling them with this upcoming summer scene. Once things get back to normal this is a kid who will be one every mid to high major coaches radar.
The bouncy prospect was poised for a breakout summer with the Southeast Elite. Montana has length, can stroke the outside shot and has an explosion off the bounce. His body needs work but his skill level is special. He is relatively unknown nationally but will be one that makes the list once everything gets back to normal.
Montana led his team to a deep run in the Division II private school playoffs this past year garnering several all tournament and all-state awards along the way. The momentum of the finish of his high school campaign would have been a catalyst for his expected leap into the recruiting landscape this summer.
