We caught up with Ruffin to hear about his high school season and update his recruitment.

Nearly a week ago, Ruffin led his Callaway High School team to a Mississippi Class 5-A state championship, scoring 33 points, grabbing 6 rebounds and creating 6 steals in the win over Center Hill High School. "It's a great feeling, something we have been aiming towards since the beginning and to finally get it, for my coaches it's a wonderful feeling." Ruffin was named to MVP of the game for Callaway that finished 25-5 on the season.

Our own Garrett Tucker had this to say about Ruffin after his performance at The Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions,

Hard to guard. That’s what follows 2021 point guard Daeshun Ruffin. The 5-foot-10 scorer was the most challenging guy to guard in the backcourt at Gibbons. With his combination of quickness and athleticism, Ruffin has made his claim as one of the top scorers in the country. He makes tough shots from anywhere on the floor, led by his shooting off the bounce. However, he is a more than capable ball-handler and passer, too. Several high-major schools are already prioritizing him and I would expect that number to grow in the future. He has a chance to be a game-changer at the college level. - Garrett Tucker

The 5-foot-10 lead guard from Jackson, Mississippi decided to commit to Auburn back in June and then opened things back up a few weeks later. Asked if Ruffin was close to a decision, "Not at this time." He holds offers from Houston, Auburn, Mississippi State, Alabama, UA-Birmingham and Ole Miss.
