Lipscomb lands pledge from 2020 guard Tommy Murr
2020 Athens (AL) Lindsay Lane point guard Tommy Murr has been extremely popular during his high school career, as he has raised some eyebrows with his scoring prowess and eye-popping numbers. The senior averaged over 40 points per game last season and led the country in scoring. On Tuesday evening, the 6-foot guard announced his verbal commitment to Lipscomb.
"Ultimately, after my official visits I really felt God was calling me to Lipscomb," Murr told HoopSeen.com regarding his pledge. "The way I naturally interacted and got along with the players was huge. The spiritual environment, a basketball program with a winning tradition, an incredible relationship with the coaching staff, and an unselfish system I'll fit in so well all played a big part in my decision."
Lipscomb lands an important pledge in Murr under new Bisons' head coach Lennie Acuff. While known as a big-time shooter and scorer, Murr possesses an outstanding feel for the game and impressive passing abilities. He should be a welcomed addition to Acuff's Princeton style offense he has ran earlier in his career.
"I love the relationship I have with Coach Acuff. He thinks I'm best when I have the ball in my hands and that's where they plan for it to be with me on the floor. I love the way we relate to one another and have something to prove."
Murr will join a strong backcourt that include fellow HoopSeen event standouts in Alex Jones and K.J. Johnson. Both players had strong careers on our circle, as did Murr, as he was one of the top performers from the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions last summer.
Murr took official visits and also considered Samford and Troy.
Murr joins local product Will Pruitt as members of Lipscomb's current two-man 2020 recruiting class.
