Adidas Gauntlet Atlanta: Carter Wilson’s Friday Notebook

It is the second weekend of the April live period, and the Adidas Uprising makes its second stop in Atlanta. The first night was a great start to the weekend. Here are a few notes from Friday night:

Garner Road Backcourt

Garner Road got a big win to open their weekend over a very good Team Loaded VA team. They were led by their three headed backcourt, which was fantastic. Thomas Allen was the leader of that group tonight, scoring 28 points, a majority of which came in a big second half. The 6-foot-1 combo guard shot the ball well from three in the halfcourt, but got a bulk of his points with good finishes in transition. His backcourt mates Michael Okauru and Alex Hunter are also both big impact players. Okauru provides another big scoring presence while Hunter is more of a table setter. This is one of the backcourts on the Adidas circuit.

Dort Continues to Rise

At last year’s Best of the South, Brookwood Elite guard Luguentz Dort (Pictured) was one of the biggest standouts as a rising 10th grader. It is now almost a year later and Dort continues to show why he is so highly regarded in the class of 2018. He is one of the most physical guards around and is an imposing presence in the backcourt. He will be a name that gets a lot of attention over the next few years. He currently holds offers from Baylor and Florida.

Zion Williamson Makes His Case

Game Elite wing Zion Williamson started his story at last year’s Bob Gibbons TOC. Now with Game Elite, he is taking full advantage of being on the big stage. Williamson attacked the rim at will tonight, putting together a fantastic game. He was probably the most productive player in the gym tonight, scoring 28 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Williamson is currently regarded as one of the top players in 2018’s class, and he showed exactly why tonight. He currently holds offers from Clemson, Florida, and Georgia among other mid majors.
