Kodye Pugh recaps junior campaign and previews first official visit

One of the most versatile and unique prospects in the 2017 class has set his first official visit, a trip that will take him across the nation. Kodye Pugh, a 6-foot-7 wing-forward type with excellent upside and unteachable length, will take an official visit to Stanford this weekend.

Reclassing into the 2017 class and transferring to Blair Academy this past fall, Pugh has achieved excellent success with his new group in New Jersey. The Maryland native feels like the move couldn’t haven’t gone much better. “It has been a fantastic year. I feel like being at Blair helped me grow so much already as a player and as a person,” the intriguing junior said. “These guys are my brothers and we have a special bond with each other. I enjoyed every moment I have spent here so far.”

Pugh has fit in seamlessly to the uber-talented and rock-solid program playing alongside top-50 forward Deng Gak and a scoring punch in the backcourt in junior guard Matt Turner. The 6-foot-7 prospect screams elite, utility guy-type where he can assume any role set for him. He has continued to solidify his perimeter jumper, is great at attacking the basket with his dominant hand, and Pugh’s instincts and feel for the game is top of the line material.

While he does have to continue to get stronger in playing at the highest level in the coming years, it hasn’t stopped programs from offering. “I would say I am hearing the most from Stanford, Florida, Georgetown, and Georgia Tech,” the Blair Academy star stated. “Vanderbilt, Miami, Texas, and Kansas have been in touch a lot recently, as well.”

A few weeks ago, Pugh made the trip down south and took in the University of Florida for a few days, a visit that brought him back to his early days. “I had a great visit at Florida. They have a beautiful campus, I love the atmosphere, and the coaches are young and ambitious,” Pugh said about the new staff in Gainesville. “Then of course, it felt good to be back in the state that I was born in. I got to see a lot of family and overall, I had a fantastic time.”

With a few days off from school, an official visit will commence this weekend as his travels will take him to Palo Alto on Saturday. “It is an amazing school. Not only that, but it’s in a competitive conference,” Pugh said about the Stanford men’s basketball program. “They have shown a lot of love and I want to see if I get a good vibe at the school.”

Planning on suiting up for the Team Loaded bunch this summer, the chances of Pugh reclassing back into the 2016 don’t look so promising as remaining in the current junior class is more than likely. “I have no thoughts on it now,” the lefty said. “I am focusing more on where my path will continue after high school.”

A national recruitment has already commenced for Pugh and with his elite length, unbelievable instincts and development at various spots on the floor, plus his intangibles off the floor, expect for the attention that the Blair Academy product receives will only amplify as the days progress towards the warmer months ahead.
