Versatility the name of the game for David Nickelberry

One of the more versatile prospects within the junior class has begun to see his recruitment pick up steam. David Nickelberry, a 6-foot-7 point-forward type that can practically play the point guard to the power forwards spots on the floor, has had a great junior showing and received wide ranging interest and offers throughout the winter months.

The lead guard for the talented and winning Windermere Prep bunch, the Sunshine State native brings a broad set of ball skills to the floor. Where versatility is so valuable anymore, Nickelberry epitomizes what it means to be able to play various spots and on either end of the floor.

The long bodied wing isn’t the most athletic of guys around but his feel and smarts for the game, to go along with his passing acumen, make the product of the Showtime Hoops program quite the difficult guard. He can create for himself on hard drives and finishes or on the pull-up jumper, though he actually seems best served in setting the floor for his squad within the half-court setting and creating for others from off the drive to the lid.

The recruiting side of things has picked up accordingly as there are a few standing out thus far. “Texas, UCLA, California, Murray State, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, and Maryland are all on me hard right now. I recently got offered by Georgia a few weeks ago,” Nickelberry said.

While the high school season has been a hectic one, the 6-foot-7 play maker was able to visit the University of Florida and get a glimpse at what the new staff in Gainesville is building towards to. “I think Florida has a great program and I love the history they have at the school,” the junior noted. “The environment is also exciting and the fans really get into the game.”

While Miami was the most recent program in for Nickelberry as he is hoping to visit California, Kansas, and Texas in the spring, he did speak on what he is looking for with his next landing spot. “I want to go to a school that will support me and develop me into a man and is a school that would give me a chance to start as a freshman,” Nickelberry stated. “However, I do understand that it comes through hard work and effort and I know that I can give that 100-percent of the time.”

Still with some time to go in Nickelberry’s college recruitment, expect for the 6-foot-7 versatile junior to be a hot name this spring as he suits up for the Showtime Hoops bunch out of Florida.
