Three schools coming the hardest for Jaylen Sebree
Coming off of Best of the South last summer, the HoopSeen.com team was really high on 2017 Hopkinsville (KY) Christian County wing Jaylen Sebree. Playing with the Louisville Magic 16U squad, the 6-foot-6 smooth scorer showed he has all the makings of a high-major prospect.
After a strong showing to close out the month of July, the high-major programs took notice of his talents. Sebree currently has several top programs pursuing him, but he isn’t done yet.
Sebree’s productive play has carried over to the high school season, where he is averaging 17 points per game at Christian County. He transferred over at the beginning of the school year.
“The high school season is going great. We are the only team in Kentucky that hasn’t lost in Kentucky,” Sebree told HoopSeen.com.
Many college programs are keeping close tabs on the talented four-star wing.
“Southeast Missouri, Manhattan, Northern Kentucky, VCU, Western Kentucky, Xavier, Samford, Marshall, and Indiana have offered me a scholarship,” he explained. “Kentucky, Ball State, Murray State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Louisville, and Navy are interested.”
“Xavier, Indiana, and VCU are recruiting me the hardest.”
Sebree hasn’t been able to take many visits during the high school season. However, he recently made the short trip to Lexington to visit the Kentucky Wildcats.
“As soon as we got to Lexington, we went to their practice to meet the coaches and players. The next day, we watched their game against Ole Miss,” he said.
“The coaches were glad I could make it down. They told me they would be watching me during AAU season.”
Sebree doesn’t plan on making any more visits during the season. However, he plans on getting on VCU’s campus in the spring.
The junior is a quiet name on the national radar right now, but expect to see him contending for a top 50 status as the travel season looms.
