Prince Oduro tracking as a name to know
As the high school season winds down, we look forward to the travel months ahead and to some of the unknown prospects that might blossom into quality names on the recruiting front. Prince Oduro fits the mold as the 6-foot-8 forward brings a wealth of upside, the physical tangibles, and versatility to the floor, all things valued by the college coaches in April.
A native of Canada, the junior forward suits up at First Love Christian in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With a young but talented and exuberant group, Oduro is one of the leaders for his squad. With a great body already in tow, the junior has range on his jumper out to beyond the 3-point arc, yet is strong and athletic enough in scoring the ball through traffic in the lane. His motor is never an issue and neither is his rebounding prowess and ability to defend various spots.
The product of the Canada Elite travel program, Oduro is someone his coach, Khayree Wilson, can only praise for what he brings to the floor. “Prince is a very good kid! He is the type of kid that ever program wants,” his coach said. “He is a stretch-4 with a great 15 to 18 foot shot, has good post moves, and a great ball wing defender. He is going to be very good!”
Coaches from West Virginia, Duquesne, Richmond, Wagner, West Virginia, and Bowling Green have all been in recently to see Oduro and his teammates. At the time being, Kennesaw State and St. Francis (PA) are the lone programs that have offered the 6-foot-8 forward, though that is due to change in the coming months ahead.
With the need for size, a scoring prowess, and defensive versatility, it looks like Prince Oduro is tracking as one of the better breakout candidates within the region as he continues to develop his arsenal as a well-rounded ballplayer and someone that the college coaches might be enamored with this summer.
