With just a few more weeks until most seniors finish out their respective high school playing careers, college programs begin to put a greater emphasis on the younger classes. The 2018 class promises to bring some special talent to the college playing floor in a few years and one prospect that has already jumped two feet into the process is David McCormack, a 6-foot-9 center out of Norfolk Academy.

A wide and very strong big man who takes up a lot of space within the interior but has impeccably nimble feet in the lane, there is a lot to like with McCormack. The Norfolk native can already score over either shoulder in the painted area and out to eight-feet. Throw in his monstrous motor as he can produce whenever the game speeds up where he also rebounds his area with his super soft mitts and there looks to be major value with the productive frontcourt piece.

During the summer months, several well-acclaimed programs jumped on board with an offer to the interior presence which came from the likes of NC State, Virginia, Tech, Old Dominion, and Penn State. This past Saturday, McCormack made the short trip up north and got a glance at Georgetown, a program that dished out an offer of their own to him during his visit. “I liked it,” McCormack said. “The campus was amazing and I love how they are known for the development of their legendary big men.”

The following day, while they did not make an offer, Maryland was able to get the big man on its campus. “The Xfinity Center was enormous. I was able to do a lot of things that I had never done before like watching the press conference,” the sophomore big man stated. “They were telling me what they expect out of an athlete and how well they treat their big men.”

Outside of his trip to the DMV this past weekend, McCormack is eyeing another one within the coming weeks. “This spring I am going to visit Xavier University,” the Norfolk Academy star said. “After watching them play, I can see that they are a really skilled team and are another program that knows how to develop its bigs.”

Now playing up on the 17-under level this summer, expect that with greater eyes placed onto him, for McCormack’s stock to hit full steam as a top tier recruit in the frontcourt within the 2018 class.
