Darius Days: sleeper no more
The state of Florida is always loaded with talent where some fly under the radar compared to most others. While things are just beginning for him, Darius Days hasn’t received much pub but that all looks like it will change this spring and summer. A product of The Rock School, located in Gainesville, the 6-foot-7 sophomore brings a boatload of potential and major versatility to the hardwood.
Sporting great length but also quality athleticism at the power forward position, Days is a fierce competitor who is evolving into a force as a face-up forward. He has a major nose for the loose ball and is a nuisance on the offensive glass. Due to his length, quick lateral skills, and instincts, the sophomore can guard various spots within the half-court setting.
Offensively, Days has some shades of current Florida star forward Dorian Finney-Smith to him as he is a bit of a tweener forward but can stretch out the defense with the perimeter jumper, score on straight line drive attacks to the basket, and can also finish with some athleticism at the basket.
A relative unknown at this time, the intriguing forward’s recruitment isn’t totally lackluster. “South Florida offered me on October 4,” Days said. “Oklahoma offered me two months among ago, sometime in December.”
While USF and OU have already joined the fray, two others are showing interest where each has hosted the versatile 2018. “I visited Florida State back in December,” the Sunshine State native stated. “I really liked it. I saw the gym and you have special treatment there. I also visited Wake Forest. They really take care of you there.”
Still up in the air as to which travel program he might run with in the coming months, Days is ready to fully blossom as a worthwhile recruit for some of the best programs in the years ahead down south.
