Thomas down to four

Class of 2016 forward Micah Thomas made a splash at the Flyin’ to the Hoop, scoring 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds against a good Garfield Heights (OH) team.

The Huntington Prep (WV) forward is one of the better available players in the senior class and he is getting closer to the final hours of his recruitment.

Thomas told HoopSeen.com that he is down to Maryland, Arkansas, LSU and Louisville. Thomas said he has an official visit to Rick Pitino’s program set up on Feb. 1 when the Cardinals play host to the Tar Heels of North Carolina.

“I think that’s a program that can help improve me and get me ready for the next level,” Thomas said of Louisville. “They’re pretty serious.”

So is Maryland. Thomas said the Terps are the most consistent player for his services.

“They call me every time they can,” Thomas said. “They’re steady…They said they need a shooter on the wing. They said they haven’t found somebody at my spot.”

LSU, no stranger to versatile big men, is in the mix, too. “I like their up and down game. They shoot a lot of shots,” Thomas said.

The Memphis native is also strongly considering Arkansas.

“They’ve been recruiting me since ninth grade. They’ve been recruiting me for a long time,” Thomas said. “I’ve become pretty close with the coaches and I have family in Arkansas.”

“I’m open-minded to everything. I don’t care where the school is. Can they get me better?” Thomas said.

“I want to come in and get playing time. I want to go somewhere that I can earn my spot and work on my development. I’m not that skilled so I’m trying to develop as a player on and off the court.”
