High-majors keeping tabs on Malik William
An emerging name outside of the Sunshine State, Malik William has shown the upside, instincts, and production in the frontcourt that can soon make him a priority recruit for the higher level programs. Standing at 6-foot-8 and with a fine feel for the game, the First Academy power forward has seen his stock take off and offers roll in this winter.
Running alongside 6-foot-4 guard Chaundee Brown on both the high school and travel circuit, William is the perfect complement to the gritty and hard playing junior. With quality length and fine instincts, the 2017 forward makes a large dent on the glass and is superb out of the high post setting. He can nail the mid-range jumper but is also an underrated passer of the basketball.
With four offers in hand thus far, UConn was the first high-major school to dish out an offer to the intriguing junior back in December, while Clemson recently joined the fray. “They told me they love my game and that they have never seen any big man do the stuff that I can do,” William stated on the Tigers coaching staff’s remarks that came following his trip to the ACC campus earlier this month.
UConn is expected in this weekend for the product of the Southeast Elite travel program while William also noted that West Virginia has been making a push for him recently.
Heading into the always important senior summer, watch out for William, who brings tremendous upside at the 4-spot, along with a fine motor and consistent production on the glass.
