Garrison Brooks recaps a pair of SEC visits
2017 Auburn (AL) power forward Garrison Brooks has been a road warrior over the past few weeks, as he has taken the time to visit a couple of college campuses. The 6-foot-9 big man recently visited Georgia and Vanderbilt.
Despite a mild snowstorm, Georgia hosted the four-star prospect for an unofficial visit this past weekend while they played Arkansas.
“Georgia was great. The campus was as pretty as I heard it was,” Brooks told HoopSeen.com. “I got to tour campus when I got there and then went to the game.”
Prior to his departure, Brooks and his family had the chance to sit down with Mark Fox and his staff for breakfast. They outlined their plan for him if he chose the Bulldogs.
“The coaches told me that I’m one of their top priorities. They showed me how I can fit in their system and that I could come in and make a difference if I worked hard.”
Brooks also took a visit to Vanderbilt at the beginning of the New Year. The Commodores have also pinpointed him as one of their top targets in 2017.
“The Vanderbilt visit was great, it couldn’t have went better. The coaches told me they could develop me. I got to sit down and talk to Coach [Kevin] Stallings and I watched the game and how they used my position. They also talked to me a lot about their education,” he explained.
The junior plans to visit Alabama on February 6th. He has also taken a couple of short trips over to watch the hometown Auburn Tigers play. Florida and Mississippi State could get visits soon, too.
While he is still a long way from a decision, Brooks notices three schools pursuing him the hardest right now.
“Vanderbilt, UAB, and Georgia are coming the hardest, but Alabama and Florida have been talking to me a lot lately.”
Brooks is averaging 16 points and 11 rebounds per game so far this season.
