3@3: Best unsigned seniors in AL
With the high school season now in full swing and the playoff pictures shaping up, we wanted to take a look at the top unsigned seniors in the state of Alabama. Who are the top remaining prospects? Garrett Tucker takes a look at the top trio in today’s 3@3.
Tracey Burnett, Lee-Huntsville: Burnett had a productive week at the Huntsville Times Classic a few weeks ago, as he played with energy and got a lot of things done in the trenches. Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee State, and some JUCO programs are currently involved. At the next level, he could be a matchup problem for bigger 4 men with his quickness and ability to put the ball on the floor.
Cam Horton, Jacksonville: In the fall, there was no hotter name in the state than Jacksonville High School combo guard Cam Horton. The 6-foot guard is an explosive scorer and caught the eyes of a couple of high-major programs, as Texas A&M and Kansas State were in to see him at one point. For now, Horton holds offers from several JUCOs: Southern Idaho, East Mississippi, Chipola, Three Rivers, and Pensacola State. Texas Rio Grande Valley, Jacksonville State, UNC-Asheville, and Furman are also involved.
E.J. Datcher, Vincent: Datcher is one of the highest ceiling guys the state has to offer. At 6-foot-9, he has great length and size for a big man. Through the first half of the season, the senior has been a consistent triple-double threat in points, rebounds, and blocks. If Datcher can put everything together, he could be a quality big man at the next level. South Alabama is heavily involved, while Alabama, Mississippi State, Tennessee State, UT-Chattanooga, and Troy are also in the picture.
