Nickeil Alexander-Walker sees recruitment pick up
The Canadian influx into the United States continues. While stars like Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins, and Avery Bradley have taken the country by storm, the future looks more than promising from the north. One prospect in particular that has excelled the past two years and has developed a versatile skillset is none other than Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a 6-foot-5 wing suiting up with the Hamilton Heights crew out of Tennessee.
Having grown over three inches within the past two years, Alexander-Walker has reworked his game from being known primarily as a slasher to the basket into now becoming a more versatile scorer of the ball who can hit the pull-up jumper out to beyond the 3-point arc. Due to his added length and confidence in his jumper, it is oftentimes difficult to deter the Canadian wing’s jumper whenever he might be guarded more closely.
The cousin of Shai Alexander, his fellow teammate in the backcourt at Hamilton Heights, the duo work extremely well playing alongside each other. Both are capable of scoring from off the bounce, yet both also have a great feel and pace to their games that allow for them to play make some off the deck and create for others within the half-court setting.
Where Alexander recently committed to Florida a month back, Alexander-Walker remains open with the process as he continued to state that he has no allegiance to the SEC program. “Right now I am hearing the most from Illinois, UNLV, Cincinnati, Miami, and Baylor,” the Canadian guard said. “I really like Maryland though, if they do end up offering.” To go along with those noted, the Hamilton Heights junior carries further offers from Auburn, Virginia Tech, Providence, USC, New Mexico State, Vermont, and St. Bonaventure.
A two-way guy who likes to get down and defend all three spots on the perimeter, while the recruiting side of things remain fluid with Alexander-Walker, it seems that the Hamilton Heights wing has yet to come anywhere close to touching his ceiling as a complete ballplayer in the backcourt.
