Class AAAA

No. 1 Grady 69, Marist 54: The Knights continued to roll behind Avi Toomer. The Bucknell bound guard finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Tykwaan Bryant was active and posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. DJ Brittian added 11 points and Kemari Averett grabbed 10 rebounds to go with his six points and two blocks.

No. 7 St. Pius 62, Redan 43: The Lane brothers combined for 29 points in the Golden Lion win. Senior Kerney scored a team-high 18 while sophomore Everett notched 11 points.

No. 8 Walnut Grove 75, Monroe Area 51: Seniors AJ Jones and Dre Durham proved to be too much to handle for Monroe Area. The exciting backcourt combined for 35 points with Jones notching 20 and Durham adding 15.

Thomson 86, 1ANo. 6 Hancock Central 70: Thomson cruised to 6-0 behind big games from Marquez Winfrey and RJ Johnson. Winfrey poured in 28 points and Johnson netted 20 in the win.

Buford 61, Stephenson 40: Brandon Iverson sparked the Wolves offense and scored 22 points to lead Buford over Stephenson.

Arabia Mountain 65, Stone Mountain 62 2OT: The Rams pulled out the victory in a wild Region 6 matchup. Darius Giles finished with 32 points and hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime. Jermon Clark added 14 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Cartersville 71, Pickens 66: Fresh off a state championship in football, Kobie Whitfield continued to make plays whether it be on the gridiron or hardwood. He scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to help lift the Canes over the Dragons after trailing by eight in the final period. Cade Archer scored a team-high 19 for Cartersville. Jaylon Pugh and JKobe Orr scored 10 and 12 points respectively.

Southeast Whitfield 75, Dade County 72: Ty Pendley entered averaging just under 29 points per game. He will now end tonight with a scoring average over 30 after exploding for 41 points to help the Raiders to their fourth win of the season. Noah Ramsey added 14 points and 17 rebounds in the win.

Heritage-Catoosa 58, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 25: The Generals advanced to 8-4 on the year with an easy win at the LFO Tomahawk Classic. Tylon Gaines scored 13 points and Hunter Erickson added 10.

White County 67, Forsyth Central 63: Whit Mauney once again powered the Warriors with 27 points in the opening round of the White County Christmas Classic. John Ward added 20 for Coach Sam Borg’s team. Forsyth Central was led by Parker Blederer’s 22.

Class AAA

No. 4 Calhoun 62, Model 39: The Yellow Jackets used a 24-8 first quarter to race past the Blue Devils. Chapin Rierson was named Seven Hills Rotary Rome-News Tribune Holiday Fest Tournament MVP after posting 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kaelan Riley garnered all-tournament honors and scored 14 points and eight rebounds in the win. Jireh Wilson finished with eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

East Hall 74, No. 9 Lumpkin County 64: Five Vikings scored in double figures as East Hall rallied from down 10 in the third quarter to knock off upstart No. 9 Lumpkin County. Tylor Brown scored a team-high 18 in the win. Freshman Luke Holtzclaw finished with 14 points. The statement win lets the rest of Region 7 know that East Hall is still a favorite to capture the crown.

No. 10 Southwest-Macon 78, Jordan 66: The inside-out tandem of Justin Slocum and Nick Hargrove rolled over Jordan. Slocum finished with 27 points and 18 rebounds while Hargrove pitched in 25 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Kentrious Goolsby drilled three deep balls for nine points.

 

Savannah 58, Groves 17: Asante Boyd powered the Bluejackets to just their third win of the season. He finished with 22 points at the Savannah Holiday Classic.
