Galen Alexander remains a priority
The Lafayette Christian Academy boys’ basketball squad hit the floor on Saturday evening at Duncanville High. However, its most heralded college prospect was unable to give it a go but not because of an injury, yet due to eligibility concerns because of his recent transfer into the school. Galen Alexander, a 6-foot-7 forward from Louisiana, might be sitting out these next few weeks, yet the recruiting scene has remained lukewarm since finishing off a solid summer campaign with the Louisiana Elite travel bunch.
After leaving Breaux Bridge High School last spring, once Alexander does hit the hardwood with his LCA comrades, the bunch should be one of the best teams throughout the Pelican State. In the mold of current California freshman Jaylen Brown and one-and-done Arizona wing Stanley Johnson, the junior forward is an explosive finisher at the basket off of the bounce and has developed a better perimeter skillset over the past calendar year.
While his new program played its first game of the season at the Thanksgiving Hoopsfest this past weekend, Alexander hopes to hear on whether he will be able to give it a go in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the tough and athletic junior has begun to see a prioritized recruitment. “I think I have 17 offers,” Alexander noted. “The main schools that I am hearing from are LSU, Arizona, OK State, UCLA, Cal, Marquette, Vanderbilt, and Texas A&M.”
Although things are still in the beginning stages for the Louisiana native, there is one program that has caught his eye. “I’m hoping to get out to Arizona next summer and see what they have to offer,” Alexander said.
With time to go but offers in hand from the majority of the SEC and Big 12, the hope is for Alexander to gain eligibility any day now and hit the floor running full steam ahead with his peers at Lafayette Christian Academy.
