Cameron Martin catches some eyes

While Trae Young grabs most of the attention for his Norman North High bunch, the talent doesn’t just begin and end with the elite guard out of the 2017 class. Another member of his graduating class, a big man who provides an anchor down low and works well out of high ball screen situations with his fellow lead guard, is Cameron Martin.

A native of Pampa, Texas, Martin was a revelation during both of his outings this past weekend alongside Young at the Thanksgiving Hoopsfest. The big man is a nice clog down low as he denies easy looks at the basket and shows off good discipline in changing shots without giving the foul. Throw in his instinctive abilities on the weakside glass, elite, glue-like hands on catches and boards, along with a solid motor in exchanging ends on the playing floor, and there definitely will be no shortage of suitors for the fellow Texan.

While they didn’t team up on the travel circuit this past summer, Martin will hope to keep the chemistry afloat with Young where he will suit up for the MoKan Elite bunch on the Nike circuit next summer. In doing so, it almost seems certain that the big fella’s recruitment will pick up, though it already has gotten off to a solid start.

Six different programs have dished out a scholarship offer to the big man including Oral Roberts, Portland, Mercer, Stetson, and Air Force, Martin told HoopSeen. Along with the offers, others such as Nebraska, Pepperdine, and San Diego have begun recruiting the productive junior.

Martin is no slouch in the classroom as he boasts quality grades with the books and has already scored a 19 on the ACT exam. With further polishing of his low block arsenal and in tidying up his frame, expect for much more noise to come out of the Norman North center during his upperclassman years.
