Big changes in our 2016 rankings
We want to be as transparent as possible here at HoopSeen when it comes to ranking players. So, as we continue to maneuver throughout the nation and watch the best prospects in the land, our feelings of where a respective prospect stands within the class rankings can ebb and flow a bit.
We plan on giving a refresh to the rankings following the completion of each month.
Stops at the Phenom Hoops High School Showcase, National Prep Showcase, the Lighthouse Classic, the Thanksgiving Hoopsfest, and the Holiday Hoopsgiving, we indulge on the movers within the 2016 rankings.
UPDATED CLASS OF 2016 PLAYER RANKINGS
Andrew Jones, a 6-foot-4 guard at MacArthur High School, received a giant raise within the rankings and boy, was it all warranted. We covered the Texas native in great detail over the past few days because of his remarkable play and progressions that he showed at the Thanksgiving Hoopsfest.
Jones is an elite recruit in the backcourt that has knocked off some of his shortcomings in past viewings by becoming better in shooting off the bounce, creating for his teammates within the half-court setting, and remaining involved on the glass. Add it all up and the top uncommitted guard in America has as a great chance of succeeded at the next level beyond the college realm.
Right along with Jones, Wenyen Gabriel has seen a similar trajectory. This time last year, Providence was the primary program involved with the 6-foot-10 forward. Now, Gabriel is a top-10 forward.
Many have been unable to get a look at Jay Huff but the HoopSeen team has seen rapid development with the Carolina native, just as well. Albeit on the skinny side, Huff has a remarkable jumper for a guy his size and jumped all the way up to our No. 22 spot.
Bruce Brown jumps over ten spots and it is because of his current production at the high school level that should transition nicely onto the college realm.
New to our rankings is Braxton Key, a 6-foot-7 forward headed to Alabama. The Oak Hill wing is the elite glue guy that should fit in from day one down in Tuscaloosa. In the mold of current Michigan State star Denzel Valentine, Key doesn’t have the best of jump shots just yet, though he has continued to rework his mechanics on it and in the meantime, remains a high level passer of the basketball, rebounder in traffic, and decision-maker on both ends.
Lastly, we added two others to the tail end of our rankings with Eli Wright and Deriante Jenkins. Wright, headed to Mississippi State next fall, has become a lot more consistent with his jump shot and energy levels and with it, his numbers on the stat sheet have followed a similar upward trajectory.
