The New Hampton School basketball program has always been good for producing quality college prospects in any given year. Last year’s crew showcased such standouts as Syracuse’s Tyler Lydon, Dayton’s John Crosby, and future Xavier big man Eddie Ekiyor. While the depth of talent isn’t as immense as the previous season, the squad still boasts plenty of college worthy recruits and up and comers including junior big man Walker Miller. The 6-foot-9 center showcased enough of his ball skills and motor throughout the weekend at the National prep Showcase that should enable for a quality recruitment in the coming months.

A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Walker Miller is a hard playing big man who is tough and physical within the trenches, but also skilled enough in nailing the pick and pop perimeter jumper. While he has yet to fully fill out into his long frame and become accustomed to his body just yet, the intriguing big man should become a fine asset for most college programs on the east coast.

Giving good minutes off the bench for Pete Hutchins’ crew at New Hampton, Miller currently boasts one scholarship offer at the current moment, that coming from the hometown UNC-Greensboro program. The one caveat is that his older brother, Wes, is the head coach for the Southern Conference bunch.

While the Spartans may have the inside track with the mobile and deceptively skilled big man, the junior remains open for any newcomers to his recruitment. Suiting up for the Team Loaded North Carolina bunch during the travel season, Miller boasts an 89-percent average in the classroom, which should allow for some of the most prestigious academic programs to get involved with him.

Still with further time to develop his physique and skillset from the perimeter on in, expect to hear much more about Walker Miller as he gains greater experience on the hardwood and adds confidence in doing so.
