Team Preview: Coming off of a season where they were one of the best teams in AAAAA and competed an undefeated regular season, McIntosh will be looking for some repeat success. They enter the season as one of the favorites in AAAAA and have a great class of seniors that will be on the prowl for a different result than last year’s finish. Their success starts with a three-headed monster that is one of the state’s best trios. Jordan Lyons is one part of that trio, and is one of the state’s top scorers. The Furman commit came into his own last year to lead this team in scoring and become one of the most dangerous players in the state. Joining him in the McIntosh backcourt is senior point guard Will Washington. Washington is currently one of the state’s best uncommitted players and is a pure point guard that can distribute the ball. He may be the biggest key to this team, proven by his season-ending injury last year, which preceded the end to McIntosh’s season about a quarter later to ML King. The last part of the McIntosh big three is big man Dishon Lowery. Lowery, a Wofford commit, provides strength down on the block for McIntosh and is a big time rebounder and gives the Chiefs a low block scorer. This three will be the biggest key to the McIntosh season, and they will certainly take the Chiefs as far as they can. However, McIntosh does have a group of role players that will also be a factor in them repeating the success they had last year. One big piece returning from last year is forward Chase Walter. Walter gives the Chiefs some added size and is a tough post presence that can grabs some big rebounds and defends well on the block. Another key role player on this year’s Chiefs will be newcomer and Fayette County transfer Isaac Kellum. Kellum adds more athleticism to the wing for the Chiefs and is a great addition from last year’s team.

After last season’s undefeated run, this year’s McIntosh team has a year more experience under their belts and could be a more complete team with less weak spots than last year’s team. That being said, this could be a very dangerous team all year long and will have a hunger in them to get to Macon and have a different result than last year.
