Malik Williams becoming priority recruit
Hoopheads in the Midwest have been familiar with 2017 Fort Wayne (IN) big man Malik Williams for a few years now, but he is beginning to make an emergence in the national spotlight.
Williams, a skilled 6-foot-10 power forward, embraced the spotlight in July during the UA Finals. Playing with Team Legit, he showed he has the potential to be a future McDonald’s All-American next year. The junior is already a priority recruit for several high-major programs, too.
“Michigan State, Indiana, Cincinnati, Toledo, Purdue, and Xavier have offered me,” Williams told HoopSeen.com.
It came as no surprise when Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue, and Michigan State came in to see him workout last Thursday afternoon, the second day of the fall viewing period. Those schools have made Williams a priority to this point. He has also visited those four schools in the last month. Nevertheless, Williams claims no leaders right now.
While Williams’ recruitment is geographically dominated by Big 10 schools right now, expect that to expand with time. This is a guy that could make a big jump on the national scale during the high school season and on into next year’s travel season.
