Jordan Poole recaps Illinois visit; eyes Michigan
A junior guard at Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Jordan Poole had quite the few months on the travel circuit running with the Playground Elite 16 and 17-under squads that he established himself as a top-100 recruit in his 2017 class. Poole gave intel on his recruitment, his recent visit to Illinois, and another one set to a Big 10 program in two weeks.
Standing at 6-foot-3, Poole seems to be growing by the day and could top out at to the 6-foot-5 mark before things are done with. The Milwaukee native isn’t the most athletic of guys around, but if there was one way to describe the guard, it would be smooth. With some shades of D’Angelo Russell to him, Poole never plays outside of his element with the ball, has spectacular vision and passing skills, and a polished mid-range pull-up game. Capable of playing either spot in the backcourt, a bevy of college programs have taken note.
During the first day that college coaches could get back out and evaluate players at their high schools, Poole was visited by Drake, Michigan, and Northwestern. However, he recently visited Illinois last weekend and gave insight on how the trip went. “It was great. I love it down there.”
At the moment, the offer list of Poole’s includes the likes of Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Auburn, Memphis, and Marquette, along with the previously visited Illini program. Lately though, the King High star mentioned that he is hearing the most from Michigan, Northwestern, Indiana, Missouri, California, and UConn.
Riding the wave of recent interest and offers, Poole will head to Michigan on September 19. The Wolverines haven’t offered yet, but look for the 6-foot-3 guard to continue navigate through his fluid recruitment and further establish himself as a top tier guard within his class on the national platform.
