Fastbreak Friday

Visit season has hit full steam and as we enter the month of October, while the list might not be as immense compared the past few weeks due to a large chunk of the 2016 class coming off the board, there is still more than enough trips being planned these next few days that are something to keep an eye on. As we always do, Fastbreak Friday brings to you the most in-depth list of visits that will be taken along with highlight a visitor of the week and potential commitments that could pop in the coming days. However, instead of just a key visitor this week, we dive deep into what is percolating down in Raleigh at NC State.

NC STATE WELCOMES IN THE BEST OF THE BEST

Riding a tremendous star to the football season on the gridiron as the Wolfpack are undefeated thus far and welcome in the Louisville Cardinals bunch on Saturday, the basketball program is taking advantage of the platform where they will host not only some of its top recruits in the senior ranks, but also those throughout all of high school ball.

Dennis Smith, its lone commit thus far in the 2016 class, heads to Raleigh this weekend and he will be looking to give out his first assist as his travel season buddy in crime, Bam Adebayo, will take the short trip to Raleigh. After visiting Auburn last weekend, Adebayo has to be on commit watch where the ACC program has long been the favorite for his talents. Not alone, recent Word of God transfer, Rawle Alkins, will also take the short drive to NC State and recent whispers have been that the program is in good standing with the hard-nosed wing from New York. From Florida, Potters House Christian big man and interior presence, Udoka Azubuike, is to set foot on campus. Kansas and Florida State have been seen as the leaders for him, but this weekend could go a far way with the Nigerian center.

Outside of the senior recruits on campus, guys like Matt Coleman and Devontae Shuler from Oak Hill Academy, and Derek Culver from Ohio, head to campus. The three juniors would be tremendous gets for the Wolfpack and this weekend should enable for the staff to get a step ahead in each of their recruitments. Outside of that, such freshmen as Wendell Moore, the Langley brothers, and Joey Baker, are all seeing an early recruitment from some of the best of programs on the east coast and this weekend will be the school’s first chance in luring the talented young ballplayers to its campus in four years.

It will be hard to touch the visit list that NC State has put together outside of maybe Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas in the coming weeks, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see more than just one of those that plan on being on campus, suiting up for the Wolfpack in the long run.

COMMITMENT WATCH

Last weekend, we hit on Javin DeLaurier to Duke, Jeff Dowtin to URI, and Breein Tyree to Ole Miss, so the pressure is on in finding who might pop next.

As we already spoke on, keep an eye on Bam Adebayo. There has been optimism on Auburn’s side with the Carolina native lately, but with the favorites for his services hosting the tenacious big man this weekend, NC State landing Bam isn’t too far off.

With just one official visit planned to date, Iowa State will host Oklahoma native and quality shooter, Jakolby Long. He has spoken on not deciding on a school until next spring, but crazier things have happened.

At Clemson, the Tigers bring in Jordan Bruner and the in-state recruit from Columbia has always had a liking for the ACC bunch; Bruner seems to be nearing a college decision, which bodes well for the orange and purple.

A quality sleeper guard out of Chicago, Zion Morgan heads to Valparaiso this weekend. This will be his first official visit and the Horizon League bunch has always been on top of the playmaking guard’s recruitment.
