Quintez Cephus of Macon (GA) Stratford Academy has been actively recruited since his freshman year. On Wednesday afternoon, he decided to put his recruitment to an end. The 6-foot-1 combo guard announced his decision to attend Furman. 

Cephus It came down to Furman and Mercer for the Class A Private stud. Cephus played for the Georgia Stars on the travel circuit.  

“Coach Niko (Medved) and (Bob) Richey they are great. I just felt comfortable with them. My first dream was to get out of Macon and experience the world,” Cephus said. 

Cephus joins Peachtree City (GA) McIntosh guard Jordan Lyons in the class of 2016 for the Paladins. Together, the duo makes for an interesting scoring duo that can log minutes in both backcourt positions. Both players are wired to score. Cepheus is at his best when he attacks the rim while Lyons is a perimeter sniper. 

“Jordan is great. Jordan will help my game and I will help his game. I am not afraid of going to bigger guys with the dribble and finishing with either hand,” Cephus said. “When I do that, I know he’ll stretch the floor because he can really shoot. They probably won’t help off of Jordan. I think he can help me a lot because he can space the floor out. He’ll get me a lot of open space to do what I can do.”

The duo were on an official visit together on the Labor Day weekend in Greenville. 

Cepheus was an all-state selection last season as a junior and is the focal point for a program in it’s second year in GHSA play. Stratford should be one of the best teams in Middle Georgia this high school season in the Peach State.

“Coach Niko just told me that he sees the style of play that we have (at Stratford) is similar they have,” Cephus said. “He said he will let me make a lot of plays and I think I can be good in the open court for the team. 

“(Medved) just seems really straight up and straight forward. He didn’t tell me anything that wasn’t true. Every time he talked me he told me how it was going to be. Seems like the kind of guy I want to play for.”
