Lindy Waters III reclasses into the 2017 class

One of the better remaining prospects on the board in the 2016 class is no more. No, Lindy Waters III did not commit to a school late Saturday night. The 6-foot-6 wing out of Norman North High School decided to take another year to develop before setting foot on a college campus and thus, reclassing to the 2017 class.

After cutting his list down to a final group of four that included Oklahoma State, Harvard, Houston, and Butler, Waters’ father gave insight on the reason why his opted to go 2017, even with the quality schools in pursuit of him. “He told us and the coaches that he wants to develop his body to be ready to play his freshman year.”

While visits were ready to take place in the coming weeks to the four programs and a possible commitment to follow, that all has changed now. “He is not taking any visits. He is just giving himself another year to mature.”

What some do not know is that Waters was actually born in Boulder, Colorado before moving to Norman and is enrolled in the Kiowa Nation and is over half Native American. “Native Americans typically mature a little later and at a slower rate compared to others.” Thus, the reasoning behind the extra year that Waters will give his body before taking his talents to the college level.

However, where the Oklahoma Wizards product is unsure of where he will play his college ball, Waters does know where he will be for the start of the 2016 school season. Across the nation he will go as plans are now set for the 6-foot-6 wing to attend Brewster Academy next fall.

A program like Brewster has been known for producing high level talent in past years as such alums to come out of the school include NBA contributors Mitch McGary, Thomas Robinson, and TJ Warren, and just this past year, produced high level guard graduates to the high level college realm in Justin Simon, Donovan Mitchell, and Jalen Adams. It would seem that if all goes according to plans, Waters will be the next in line in becoming one of the faces of the elite NEPSAC program next year.
