Jay Jay Chandler recaps visits and takes two more

After taking in the both the Kentucky and Ohio State programs on Wednesday, Jay Jay Chandler is on the move as he takes in two of the premier programs throughout the state of Tennessee today.

Chandler, a rising junior at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, Texas, came out of thin air where he held no offers back in May, but now carries such scholarship opportunities from programs like SMU, Baylor, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. A tough and athletic guard who loves to attack the basket with a vengeance, the recent uptick in his recruitment is definitely warranted and his father gave a quick rundown on his journey throughout the Midwest this past week.

On Kentucky:

“It was a real, real nice place and very special situation. Got a good visit of the team’s day to day life styles. We liked the opportunity and feel like he’s their type of player.”

“They told us they’ll see us in Houston in a couple of months. We will keep working hard.”

On Ohio State:

“It was incredible and it was super special. Coach Matta sat and talked to us for an hour. We saw the everyday life of the basketball program and they feel like Jay is their type of player, too. They also said they’ll be in Houston soon to see him.”

Today, August 23, Chandler and his father will head off to Nashville as they take in Kevin Stallings’ program at Vanderbilt. The Commodores have had great success in Texas of late as they showcase two freshmen that call the state home in D-Jery Baptiste and Samir Sehic, the latter who played within the same program as Chandler with the Hoops Hoops crew, along with sophomore forward, Jeff Roberson.

Later in the afternoon, Chandler will get his first glimpse of the Memphis Tigers program. It would seem as if the Lone Star State native would fit in seamlessly well as the Josh Pastner’s bunch is known for pushing the pace and speeding up the tempo of any given contest, which bodes well for the junior guard. While Pastner and his group haven’t had great success in Texas, it should be noted that his father, Hal Pastner, is the founder of the program that Chandler plays his travel ball for.

Now heading into his junior campaign, expect for Chandler to continue to sift through the process and remain open to others in getting involved with the quick blooming guard from down in Texas.
