Charlie Moore sets four official visits
It isn’t too hard to find some notable Mac Irvin Fire alums making some major noise on the college floor and beyond. If you know anything about college basketball, you definitely know who Jahlil Okafor and Jabari Parker were before they were selected high in the NBA draft. Each starred for the Chicago-based program and this past year, while it wasn’t their most successful bunch, 2016 guard Charlie Moore did his very best to solidify his standing as one of the best point guards in all of America.
While he might not look the part, the 5’11 senior guard is one tough little dude. So tough, that it is something that he really prides himself as one of the main ingredients that has made him who he is. “Growing up in Chicago, you have to be tough out there on the court. I just learned how to play at your speed and play your game.”
Spending the past few weeks in the gym and some down time with his family, Moore noted on an eventful July. “I think I played pretty well. I was just going out there and getting wins and giving my 110 percent.”
During the Nike EYBL season, Moore’s stats were off the charts good. He had a 2.3-to-1, assist-to-turnover ratio, averaged over 15 points per game while making close to 40% of his 3-point attempts, and was a thief in coming up with nearly two steals per game. With the toughness, quick scoring abilities, and facilitating approach in check, the likes of Memphis, VCU, Illinois, and Pitt all dished out offers to the Windy City native.
With 15 offers in hand, Moore is close to cutting his list down to but has set four official visits. “I have California on September 11, Pitt on September 18, Illinois on September 25, and Memphis on October 2.”
While those four programs look to be safe when the cut list is created, Moore spoke on who might receive the other visit allotted. “I am unsure of the fifth visit but I have been talking it over with my family but all of the schools that I am talking with are still involved.”
California, Pitt, Illinois, and Memphis seem to have a few things in common with Moore as the Morgan Park standout has a select list in picking a school. “I want a family atmosphere where I can come in and play right away, and a great relationship with the staff.”
Planning on making a commitment sometime in November and signing shortly after, Moore should be one solid pick-up at the high-major level and an immediate contributor next year due to his gritty nature, quick scoring prowess, and competitive forces at the lead guard spot.
