Jasper Bound For Charleston
Augusta Laney (GA) High School point guard Zep Jasper has made his commitment fresh off of the AAU season. He has chosen to join the College of Charleston Cougars and head coach Earl Grant.
That connection with Coach Grant was what ultimately sealed the deal for Jasper.
“Knowing Earl Grant for three years and having that connection with him for that time. I have a good relationship with him and that’s where I know I want to play,” said Jasper.
But it wasn’t just Coach Grant who had an impact on Jasper. Former Laney and Clemson standout Rod Hall was a connection that Grant and Jasper shared.
“Knowing Coach Grant recruited Rod Hall while he was at Clemson and we are both from the same city and went through the same things, I know he is going to help me,” Jasper told HoopSeen.
“Talking to Rod after playing at Clemson for four years, we have a connection, and he wants the best for me,” Jasper said.
Jasper fits a lot of what Coach Grant is known for and could be a vital piece to the future of College of Charleston basketball.
“Coach Grant wants to use me as a leader and run his program. He loves toughness and he thinks that toughness is something that I have,” said Jasper.
Jasper joins fellow guard Brevin Galloway in what is a great start to Charleston’s 2016 class.
